This is a question calling out from within the sound of Brazilian metallers SIRIUN, a query bound in the inescapable invitation of craft, imagination, and experimentation and in no greater temptation than within the band’s new album, ‘Psychonaut’.
As proven by their richly acclaimed debut album, ‘In Chaos We Trust’, the Rio de Janeiro hailing outfit weave cyclones of extreme and progressive melded metal, a force relishing physical and emotional turbulence as keenly as evocative intimation and imagination spun enterprise. SIRIUN are also a band which also demands of themselves that they persistently explore and push their invention, an evolution set to voraciously erupt within ‘Psychonaut’.
Formed by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Alexandre Castellan, Siriun emerged in 2014 and immediately revealed their vision of merging modern, brutal and progressive metal in a landscape of provocatively lyrical and melodically intense exploration. Featuring long-time friend in bassist Hugo Machado and rhythmic tour-de-force, drummer Kevin Talley (Six Feet Under, Daath, Feared, Suffocation, Devil Driver, BattleCross), ‘In Chaos We Trust’ commanded fresh and eager attention far beyond their homeland; with ‘Psychonaut’ they are now simply demanding it.
Taking an enforced break due to the pandemic, SIRIUN returned with a new line-up seeing guitarist Djavan Fernandes and bassist Marcos Medeiros alongside Castellan and long-time band member in drummer Braulio Drumond; a union of fresh and adventurous musicianship and invention as key to the new vision and imagination of sound as maturity in songwriting and that passion in breaking new ground.
In a world where tempestuousness seems to lace every day, there is a superstorm of enlivening spirit, explosive craft and ravening imagination upon it and it goes by the names of SIRIUN and ‘Psychonaut.’ “There’s no excuse for you to not fall in love with it” - Metal Injection “This is fast, and brutal, and you need this in your life” - Metal Insider “Undoubtedly the best debut album I've ever heard” - Rock Hard
“Everything from the production to the musicianship is top notch and Siriun certainly prove that they are a cut above their peers!” - Metal Rules |
